Frequently Asked Questions
How do I crop to a specific aspect ratio?
Click one of the aspect ratio buttons (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2) above the crop area. The crop selection will lock to that ratio. Choose 'Free' to crop without any ratio constraint.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Transmute processes everything locally in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device — there is no server, no upload, no cloud processing.
Can I rotate the image before cropping?
Yes! Use the rotation slider below the crop area to rotate the image from -180° to 180°. The crop area adjusts automatically.
What format is the cropped image saved in?
