About HEIC to PDF

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) has been the iPhone's default photo format since iOS 11, and it is exactly the format that document portals, application forms, and office workflows tend to reject. This tool turns those photos into a single PDF without them ever leaving your device: each HEIC is decoded in your browser by the libheif decoder, then saved into the document as a JPEG at quality 0.92 — a re-encode with a slight, usually invisible cost — or as a lossless PNG in the rare case the image carries transparency. Add several photos and each becomes its own page; drag the cards to set the order. Pages come out as A4 or US Letter with the photo centered inside a 40-point margin and never enlarged beyond its natural size, or as fit-to-image pages that match each photo exactly. It is the quick path from photos of your documents on an iPhone to one PDF a form will actually accept — leases, receipts, whiteboards, handwritten notes.

Questions

Why turn HEIC photos into a PDF?

Application portals, government forms, and office workflows often accept only PDF — and many of them cannot read HEIC at all. Converting photos of documents into one PDF gets an iPhone camera roll past both problems at once.

Does HEIC to PDF lose quality?

Slightly. HEIC cannot be embedded in a PDF directly, so each photo is decoded with libheif and re-encoded as JPEG at quality 0.92 — usually indistinguishable from the original. An image with transparency is saved as lossless PNG instead.

Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?

Yes. Each photo becomes its own page in the order shown on the assembly strip — drag the cards to rearrange them before creating the PDF.

What about burst or multi-image HEIC files?

A HEIC container that carries several images contributes its primary image only — that is the photo iOS shows you. The other frames are not read.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Transmute processes everything locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device — there is no server, no upload, no cloud processing.
