About TIFF to PDF

The thing that sets this tool apart: every page of a multi-page TIFF becomes a page of the PDF. A 30-page scanned contract or fax TIFF comes out as a 30-page PDF, not as page one with the rest silently dropped — the assembly strip shows the true page count the moment the file is added, before you convert anything. Decoding runs in your browser on the utif2 library, one page at a time so that even long scans do not exhaust memory, and each page is then re-encoded for the PDF: lossless PNG where the page carries transparency, JPEG at quality 0.92 where it is fully opaque. Both .tiff and .tif extensions are accepted, in either byte order. Choose A4 or US Letter — pages are centered inside a 40-point margin and never enlarged past their natural size — or fit-to-image to match every page's exact dimensions. Nothing is uploaded; scanned contracts and medical documents stay on your machine from drop to download.

Questions

Do multi-page TIFFs keep all their pages?

Yes — that is the point of this tool. Every page of the TIFF becomes a page of the PDF, and the assembly strip shows the true page count the moment the file is added, before you convert.

Is the conversion lossless?

Each page is decoded with utif2 and re-encoded for the PDF: losslessly to PNG when the page carries transparency, to JPEG at quality 0.92 when it is fully opaque — a slight, usually invisible cost on photographic scans.

Can very long scans run out of memory?

Pages are decoded one at a time, never all at once, precisely so a long fax or scan TIFF does not exhaust a tab's memory. Very large individual pages are still bounded by your device's canvas limits.

Is .tif the same as .tiff?

Yes — two extensions for the same format. Both are accepted, in either byte order (the II little-endian and MM big-endian variants).

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Transmute processes everything locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device — there is no server, no upload, no cloud processing.
